Happy New Year! Here’s wishing everyone a safe and prosperous 2016!
After a month of partial holiday celebration and partial hibernation, we can look forward to a couple events. The first motorcycle show of the year is being held at Pheasant Run resort on Jan. 8-10. Though it’s not a chapter event it is a chance to stretch your legs and get back in the riding groove.
On January 30, we have our Mid-Winter Chapter Z2 Dinner Party. This year we are reserving an entire room and have obligations for a minimum number of attendees. So we are asking everyone for their commitment up front by not only signing up but also paying for their dinner. As you can see from our flyer, Doug has arranged a great venue at Buck’s Pit Stop with an all you can eat buffet including chicken, beef and pasta, along with salads, deserts and beverages. We will have door prizes and festivities to make this a special occasion. So please send or bring your money and sign up at our meeting on January 10. If you can’t make it, you can make out a check to “GWRRA Chapter IL-Z2” and send it along with another member or mail it to either Chris Shore or myself. Please email me (firstname.lastname@example.org) with any questions or get the addresses to mail the check. I will post the mailing address on our website’s Event Calendar as well. If all else fails, and you are planning on coming, please make sure to let us know!
Don’t forget the GWRRA Illinois District Winter Warmup. It takes place in Springfield at the Abraham Lincoln Hotel. Training, and great social events will be on the schedule, so get another winter break and join your fellow Wingers! Information on our web site and in this newsletter.
On Feb. 12-14, the Rosemont International Bike Show is in town. They have had some great deals in the past and I’m looking forward to picking up a couple items.
Our first Chapter Training session of the year is scheduled for February 20, so make sure to sign up at this month’s meeting. Next month’s Chapter meeting will be held on Feb. 14th.
Flyers and information have all been posted on our website concerning our Chapter rides to Sturgeon Bay, WI and to Hazard, KY. Doug worked hard to find the right combination of hotels along with good rates and nice facilities. Thanks, Doug. Make your reservations early in order to take advantage of the discounted rates that Doug has negotiated for our group. Remember, for our trip to Hazard, there are three hotels you need to reserve at: one on the way down, one while in KY, and one on the return trip.
The web site calendar has been updated for almost all of 2016, so please continue to use it as your source of information on rides and events.
Safe riding, er sledding!
