Thanks to everyone who helped make our ride to the Rock River such a success. We had 17 bikes and 23 people with several last minute cancellations. The weather was great with some strong gusts at times. After gathering at Fox Valley Cycles, we broke into two groups led by Ride Coordinator Don Shore and Asst. Ride Coordinator Don Schwieger, with Doug Koglin and Al Nurczyk riding sweep. We headed west through Aurora making a stop at the Fire Museum (one of several stops part of the MAD Poker Run contest) and then on toward Rock Falls, Sterling and Dixon. We broke for lunch in Dixon at the River View Restaurant where the service was excellent and food even better. I had a pork cutlet the size of Chicago. After lunch we made 3 quick stops in Dixon for more pictures for the MAD contest and then followed a winding road along Rt. 2 beside the Rock River. Several riders split off at Rt. 72 to start home, while the rest of us continued up to Rockford before heading east. A brief stop for some ice cream and then the last leg home. It was a fine day and we hope our future riding events are as successful.
