Say “hello” to 2018 and wave goodbye to 2017! It always seems good to clear the slate and have a new beginning, with all our goals, dreams and energy in front of us. Now is the time to rededicate ourselves to those important goals that mean better health, stronger friendships and a better world for all.
As the year has changed so is our Chapter Z2 leadership. After months of searching we finally have someone to step in and assume the mantel of leadership for our chapter, guaranteeing our continued ability to share friends, “fun, safety and knowledge”!
Butch and Mary Thielenhouse have volunteered to take on the role of Chapter Director. And as icing on the cake, Bob Graeff has volunteered to be the new Ride Coordinator and Arlene Graeff has also volunteered to be the new Chapter secretary. This is all great news as I think new leadership fosters new and fresh ideas and creates a renewed energy in all of us as we plot our course forward. Area chapters Y (New Lennox) and B2 (Algonquin) have both closed within the past year, leaving ourselves, DK and G2 the last remaining chapters in the NE Illinois area. We’ve talked about the problems with motorcycle sales, especially to new, younger riders and many local riding clubs have been feeling the drain with membership. It’s great to know we will persevere! Thanks, Butch, Mary, Bob and Arlene.
It has been an honor and privilege to serve our Chapter for the past 3 years as Chapter Director. I would like to thank all of you for your support and friendship as we created many memories and especially all the fun we have had. I look forward to more of these good times as we enter our new year.
As a reminder, this month’s meeting on January 14th, has been replaced by a Pizza Party at Paisan’s Pizza in Lisle at 1:00pm. If you haven’t signed up, it’s important that you call me with your intentions so we can order the proper amount of pizza. Cost is $5 per head. See the calendar on the web site for details. You are still welcome to go to breakfast at Denny’s in the morning but there will be no meeting.
We have talked about several minor adjustments to our procedures going forward, but Butch will now be able to make final decisions on how he would like to implement his ideas. I’m sure a ride planning meeting (now that we know we live for another day 😊) will be on the books in the near future.
